Sheep

The bodies of these sheep are made from small boulders, and their heads and feet are

Miraculous catch of fish

The statue 'Miraculous catch of Fish' ('De wonderbaarlijke Visvangst' in Dutch)

was a gift to De Wachter Mill Museum in 2007. It refers to the Gospel of Luke
(Luke 5:1-11). The statue was made by Onno de Ruyter. (photo 5Apr20)

CDP Theme day: Smile

Elke eerste dag van de maand is City Daily Photo theme day. Deze 1e februari is het
thema 'smile'.  Ik heb gekozen voor deze 'stempel' op het asfalt van de Oude Tolweg,
bij basisschool De Tol, een foto die ik vorig jaar maakte. Het is een vriendelijke waarschuwing
om toch vooral je licht op de fiets aan te doen. (foto 23apr20)

Zuidlaardermarkt

 

Vanwege corona gaat Europa's grootste paardenmarkt dit jaar niet door. (foto 28jul20)

Paardenhandel

Elk jaar op de derde dinsdag van oktober vindt in Zuidlaren de grootste
paardenmarkt van Europa plaats. Naar aanleiding van de 800e Zuidlaarder-
markt onthulde (toenmalig) prins Willem-Alexander in november 2000 

deze beeldengroep die de paardenhandel uitbeeldt. 

De maker is beeldhouwer Frans Ram, en het paard dat model heeft gestaan 

is Tinus van W. Roelfsema.

Vanwege de coronacrisis is er overigens dit jaar geen Zuidlaardermarkt.
