No voice for racism

..which, thinking back of the general Dutch elections of last month,

can also be read as ‘no vote for racism’. I spotted these flyers on an electricity box

Voting pencils

The red pencils that we used for giving our votes during this week's general elections

already appear to have become collector's items. Due to Covid-19 every individual

received his or her own pencil and was allowed to take it home afterwards; a unique

situation. Many are already for sale online.

Well, it might be a good idea to put ours in a safe and see what they're worth in 

15 years or so... 😏         (photo 18Mar21)

Dutch elections

Yesterday, as well as the 2 days before that, the general elections took place in 

the Netherlands to elect the members of the House of Representatives. Due to Covid-19 the 

government decided to open some polling stations 2 days in advance to ensure safe voting 

for elderly and people with medical high-risks. Citizens from 70 and older were also given

the chance to vote by post.
The Brinkhotel was one of the locations in Zuidlaren where people could vote.

The Dutch word 'stembureau' means 'polling place'. (photo 17Mar21)

Election posters have started to appear along town. They are for the 2021 Dutch general elections
